When politicians make it easy for us – Part 2
This one is even better than the last one. With thanks to Damien, witness the following excerpt from a Dáil debate:
The Taoiseach: While the House can discuss County Cavan another day, I am discussing the Republic of Ireland and Members should keep to that.
Now personally, I don’t think that getting confused over which counties make up the Republic of Ireland is all that hard. I’d say a decent proportion of Irish people would probably have to think twice before they got it right.
And it is exactly for this type of reason that entrusting anyone with the task of centrally planning an economy is such folly. It is hard enough for anyone to memorise the bare geographic facts of our towns and counties – so how on earth could they successfully direct the activies of the millions of people who inhabit them?
